# Onboarding & Setup

> Learn how to complete MindFort onboarding — create an organization, add a target, verify domain ownership via DNS, and prepare for your first run.

## Setup Flow

<Note>
  MindFort only allows work email addresses. Personal email accounts (such as Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo) cannot be used to sign up for or sign in to the platform. Use your company email when creating your account.
</Note>

When you first sign in, complete onboarding in this order:

1. Create or join an organization.
2. Add your organization details.
3. Choose a target type and add its details.
4. Optionally add credentials and authentication instructions.
5. Choose a verification or onboarding method.
6. Optionally connect GitHub.
7. Continue to the dashboard.

## Step 1: Organization

* Create a new organization if you are starting fresh, then enter the organization name, primary phone number, and how you heard about MindFort.
* If you were invited, switch into the correct organization before continuing.

## Step 2: Add Domain and Target

Choose **Web Application** or **API**, then provide:

* target name
* target URL
* target description
* optional credentials and login instructions

If you add credentials, authentication instructions are required. Network targets can be added later from **Target Inventory** when available for your organization.

## Step 3: Choose Setup Method

You can continue with:

* **Auto Setup**
* **Manual Configuration**
* **Book a Call**
* **Skip this step**

## Step 4: Verify Domain Ownership

For manual verification:

1. Copy the DNS TXT token shown in setup.
2. Add it to your DNS provider.
3. Return to MindFort and click **Verify Domain**.

You can finish onboarding without verification, but assessments remain unavailable for the target until verification is complete.

## Step 5: Connect GitHub (Optional)

Connect GitHub if you want to link source repositories for White-Box assessments, Code Review, or patch pull requests. You can also do this later from **Settings → Integrations**.

## Step 6: Final Readiness Check

Before your first assessment:

* target shows verified status
* credentials are valid (if added)
* login instructions are current (if authenticated testing is needed)

## First Run After Setup

Go to **Assessments** and start your first run. Then move to **Findings** for triage and **Reporting** for report generation.
