# Knowledge Lakes

> Learn how to upload team and target documents to MindFort Knowledge Lakes so agents can reference them during assessments and directed agent runs.

## Overview

Knowledge Lakes lets you upload reference documents for assessments and agent runs. Supported formats include PDF, CSV, Markdown, TXT, JSON, XLSX, DOCX, XML, and YAML (max 10 MB per file).

There are two document scopes:

* **Team Documents** — shared across your entire workspace.
* **Target Documents** — scoped to a specific target for context-aware assessments.

## Upload Documents

1. Open **Knowledge Lakes** from the sidebar.
2. Choose the **Team Documents** or **Target Documents** tab.
3. For target documents, select the target from the dropdown first.
4. Drag and drop files or folders into the upload area, or click to browse.

You can upload individual files, multiple files, or entire folder structures in a single operation. Folder hierarchy is preserved.

## Manage Documents

From the document list you can:

* browse the folder tree
* download individual files
* delete documents you no longer need

## Recommended Process

1. Upload team-wide reference material (policies, architecture docs, runbooks) to **Team Documents**.
2. Upload target-specific material (API specs, deployment guides, config references) to **Target Documents** for each target.
3. Keep documents current — remove outdated versions and upload replacements as your environment changes.
